Fishing Fly-What Is Actually Mean By Fishing Fly?

Fly fishing is a method of fishing named after the bait -a "fly". Fly fishing differs from regular fishing because the fisherman uses a different type of rod and line to cast out and land the "fly" repeatedly on the water for very short amounts of time. To a fish, it looks like the "fly" is an actual insect landing momentarily on the water, or even hovering just above it.

To Fly fish: means the same thing as to go fly fishing, it's just a different form of the verb.

Fly fishing is basically and in easiest terms... Normal fishing you use the weight of the LURE or BAIT etc to get it to where the fish are. You know you tie on a meps spinner and the very lightweight mono and it follows the lure out where you cast... Right.. with me so far... OK.. fly fishing is where you use the weight of the LINE to get your lure or "fly" out to where the fish are. Because flies are so light weight, some flies I have seen are a size 32( not much bigger than this -- ) and your tippet is so thin your hair looks thicker, they will not go when you cast it on normal line so in Fly fishing you use the line as your weight and by making your false casts, this is the back and forth you see this is getting enough line out to make your cast, you are able to use momentum and the line weight to get your line out and your fly out to where you think the fish are. I have been fly fishing for about 4 years now and it has taken me this long just to finally get cast that works. It takes a LOT of practice and patience. If you are going to try it make sure you find someone who can help you along at first. I struggled with it on my own and finally figured it out but it took me a long time to get it almost down. I tie my own flies and there is nothing like the feeling of hauling in a decent sized fish on a fly YOU tied.
